The parade will be Feb. 9 in New Orleans.

The exact time and route have not been determined, but Mardi Gras organizer Barry Kern is working with Mayor Ray Nagin’s office to coordinate the event.

Mayoral spokeswoman Ceeon Quiett said the parade will be in the afternoon or evening to allow people to finish their workdays and students to wrap up with school.

The team will be featured in the parade, but other marching units such as bands have not yet been determined, Quiett said.

Doug Thornton, regional vice president of SMG, the company that manages the Superdome, said the Dome will not be available for use for the parade because of preparations for the Endymion parade, which is Feb. 13.

Quiett said there would be a staging area where fans will be able to congregate after the parade, but that location has not been determined.

“This has been historic,” she said. “The goal was always to have a celebration to honor the achievements of Saints.”
